Lombok is an Indonesian island known for its stunning landscapes, including the active volcano Mount Rinjani and beautiful beaches like those in the Gili Islands. It offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage, with traditional Sasak villages and excellent opportunities for snorkeling and trekking. Less developed than Bali, Lombok provides a more tranquil and less crowded travel experience.
To reach Lombok, you can fly into Lombok International Airport (LOP), which has direct flights from major Indonesian cities like Jakarta, Bali, and Surabaya. For international travelers, the most common route is to fly into Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) and then take a short domestic flight to Lombok. Alternatively, you can take a fast boat or ferry from Bali to Lombok, which provides a scenic and enjoyable journey across the Lombok Strait.
Lombok has many amazing sight what You can not even miss if you there. Lombok's main sights include like the Mataram Islamic Center, which is prominent cultural and religious landmark in Mataram, featuring a striking mosque and a vibrant Islamic cultural complex. Selong Belanak Beach what is known for its scenic beauty and clear waters, it's a popular spot for surfing and relaxing on the soft, white sand. And for the ones who wants to enjoy the vibrant surfing paradise of the island, visit Kuta Lombok,a charming coastal area offering beautiful beaches, excellent surf breaks, and a laid-back atmosphere ideal for both adventure and relaxation.
It all depends what you want to explore and the amount of time you have. Lombok has many hidden gems as well besides the touristic sights. You can hike the Rinjani Volcano which lasts like 3 days and 2 nights, there are many waterfalls in the north side of the island. You can just enjoy surfing in the south or just chilling somewhere in the jungle. It all depends of your needs. I recommend minimum 2-3 weeks to explore this beauty.
